I am wanting to bid on a dvd rom drive on ebay but does anyone know where I an get the software to play dvds as the seller has lost the software. It is new and it is a Liteon brand.

As I understand it the DVD devices are cheap. It is the software that costs the money.

Internal DVD-ROM reader drives are very cheap and you can use the completely free VLC media player to play DVD movies.

I found powerdvd for $2.99 with free shipping at http://www.surpluscomputers.com/store/main.aspx?p=ItemDetail&item=SWW12067 That is pretty close to freeware.

Yes, it's close but the fact is... it's isn't free. VLC, in my opinion, offers more features and is far more sophisticated than what PowerDVD has to offer.
