DVD Movies External DVD Player

OS: Win XP Pro / SP2
CPU/Ram: 400 MHz
Comment:

Would watching DVD movies on an external DVD player connected via USB 1.1 to a PII 400 MHz running XP Pro SP2 and 128 MB of SDRAM work? Video card is ATI Rage Pro AGP 2X.

YES! but the quality would be awful.

USB is too slow even USB2, Firewire is far better

P11 400mhz does not have the ooomph, especially with 128MB memory, you really need at least 256MB just for XP.

I think it is time to upgrade !!!!!

The above is absolutely UNTRUE...

USB 1.1 is slow but usb2 IS FASTER THAN FIREWIRE.

USB1.1 might be a little shakey but it will work. You should however upgrade to USB2. It's has become the norm.

I have a friend with a ibm laptop that does movies on even less RAM.
