I have a pretty new DVD burner with Nero OEM. I'm able to burn DVD's and play them back on my computer, but I can't figure out how to burn them so that they'll play on my regular DVD player. Most of the files I want to burn are AVI or MPEG...do I need to convert these somehow? Do I need a different version of Nero? A little help please!

Now depending on the age of your house DVD player it might work only for +R or -R discs. Is your new PC DVD writer a dual writer? If so, try the other media than the 1 you are using and see if that works. What is the message you get? Invalid disc?

Those files you have, can you try them with Xp's Windows Movie Maker? See if that works for you.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

You must use a DVD creator program to burn the DVDs. It will convert the AVI and/or MPEG files to the VOB format. That is the format needed to play on standalone DVD players.

But, not all DVD players can play DVDs created on a computer.

I tend to disagree with Ham, as I make commercial DVD's using +R which is the most popular with most players. If the +r DVD doesn't work, I make up a -R DVD and they have no problems.

I should have been more specific. It's usually only 'some' older DVD players that have problems playing DVDs recorded on a PC.

My burner is a +/-, and my regular dvd player is very new. Are there any suggested programs (like nero) that could help? Thanks.
