OS: scandisk memory card
CPU/Ram: 2gig
Product: CANNON SD550
Comment:

My boyfriend was messing with our camera and was formating the memory card and erased the pictures that were on it. It is a 2gig scandisk memory card. We have tried alot of different things for image recovery. We've tried to download one on our computer. nothing. We've also taken it to talls camera and kits camera and they havent been able to get anything. Please help! There has got to be a way. I am desperate!! They are pictures of my newborn daughter. They are pics from the day she was born to 6weeks. You can't get these back and am so desperate.. Please help!

Well, that's what formatting does, erases everything from the card, just like formatting a hard drive erases all data from the drive.

Do a google search for recovery software. I don't know of any, offhand, that work with SD cards, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

I really, really feel for you. I hope cnf's links can help you.

I'm afraid Sci-Guy might be right though.

Deleting or erasing might not be the same as formatting. So there is some chance but not likely.

Either way trust me on this. As precious as those pictures are the best ones and the ones you'll cherish more are yet to come.

You have a lifetime of memories ahead of you. But I would like those pictures back too if I were you. So I wish you luck. Sorry I can't offer any tech advice on this one.

Sincerely;
RandyL

Deleting or formatting does not always erase the data. They might just clear the index to the data. Data on hard drives is normally recoverable and I would think the same applies to your camera, if you can find the right software.

try file scavenger...it helped me recover tons of pics from a reformatted HD, it also works on camera cards. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/filesc...

It also helped me recover pics from my fujifilm s7000 when I accidently erased a bunch of pictures of Costa Rica....thought I was doomed, but I got 1/3 back

Try the free trial to see if it finds anything, if so, you will know the pics are still on the card.

I refer many downloads to the majorgeeks site because they are usually more up-dated than other sites.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results as it will help others.
