Hi Folks,
This refers to my camera card (SD MS/Pro MMC XD) reader; up until 3 days ago it has been working fine; suddenly "my computer" recognizes the card but will say one of two things when I try to import the images: either right off it will say Device not ready and not let me go further or it will say device not ready, give me a choice to "skip all files with this error", when I select this option, it shows that it is importing the images as usual, but then the images can not be found on my computer; there is no error code #; I have tried updating the driver and BIOS as suggested on HP site; would appreciate any suggestions - Thanks!

It sounds like the files on the card may be corrupted. This can happen if you don't re-format the card regularly (when you don't need the files that are on it any more) to keep it in a healthy condition.

many people just delete all the files on the card instead of re-formatting it, and this will eventually cause problems.

You can try recovery software but even if it retrieves the files for you, don't continue using the card because it will never be reliable again. Throw it away and buy a new one. Free memory card recovery software here:

Thanks Phill22, I was not aware of the re-formatting 'requirement" for the cards; I will use that in the future. I have new data points for this issue:
I tried a second camera card that had previously worked and it also failed AND as I needed the the photos ASAP, I took it to Walgreens and the photos loaded, read and and copied normally. This tells me that the problem is with my computer. I have checked the pins inside the reader device and altho I am not exactly sure what I should see, there doesn't appear to be any bent pins, debris, etc. Also a further check on the Hp site for any other updates that might be needed for the device, did not show any other updates needed. Any other suggestions? someone suggested cleaning up my registry?
