Hi;
I have a Sony Cybershot digital camera. Just recently,.....I have about 6 pictures that I can't seem to delete from the card. I'm assuming they are on my card,.....since when I download pictures from the card, they always appear in saved pictures. I have deleted them from the card using the delete function on the camera, which then shows no images in the folder. Then,....I take new pictures,.....download them,....and these same pictures are there again. As I mentioned,...this process has been repeated a few times. I've checked the onboard memory,....and there's nothing in that memory.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Are you sure the pictures in 'saved pictures' aren't there from the original download? Have you tried deleting or moving them?

Thanks Aegis;
Not exactly sure what you're asking,....but let me see if I can explain it better.
I delete all the images from the card in my camera,......and the camera confirms "no images". I take a set of new pictures,.. download them to my computer, ....and presto,.. the pictures that I thought I had deleted, reappear in the downloaded folder. I have repeated this process at least three times, over the last month... and they are not deleted.
They do not show up when I view the pictures on my camera however.
As mentioned,.... I also checked the onboard memory, and nothing on it.

Here's an idea: I have no idea which software you are using for your cam, but I also use Picasa 2:
http://picasa.google.com/download/
There is an option to have picasa delete the photos from the cam after you have saved them to disc.

Another way is to open up my computer and you'll see the icon for your sony camera. Open that and you'll see the folder with the pics. Click on select all and then click on delete. That will empty your cam.

If you copy them to a different folder do they appear there too?

It is possible that the Thumbs.db file contains the thumbnail image of the specific images.

Try deleting the Thumbs.db file from the 'downloaded folder'. Or change to Details View in that folder to see if the 6 images appear or not.

Okay;
I just took some new photos, and before downloading them to my computer,.....checked to see if the "phantom" pics were on the card, in the camera. They weren't. I downloaded the pictures using Picassa - XpUser4Real - hoping that may make a difference. When the d/l was completed,......poof the phantom 6 shots were there at the end of the set. They don't show up on the camera,.....but are downloaded,.......and it doesn't matter what program for downloading I use.

The cards can be formatted, can't they. Maybe that will be necessary. Otherwise I'm stumped,...and it sounds like others are too!

Hi XpUser4Real;
Sorry it's taken so long to respond,.....but I had some pictures on my card (my son's wedding) that I wanted to make sure I had back-ups of back-ups before attempting to wipe the card clean. I took your advice, and used the option on Picassa,.....and it appears to have permanently deleted them. Thanks for the advice. Cheers,....and a Very Happy New Year!!!
