Comment:

SD cards are being reported by Windows as "write protected" even though all switches etc are set for open access. It seems to be an issue with my card reader, an "Easy Bay" multi breakout box built into one of my cd-rom bays, which carries usb, firewire, digital audio etc as well as the multiple card reader fuction. The problem only occurs when I use the card reader in this bay; using an external usb reader the exact same card can be written to without problem. Is there likely to be a simple hardware or software remedy for this problem, or do I need to ditch the box and get a new one? If the latter, any recommendations for something reliable, preferably with the other functions too ...

They are all cheap junk made in China. Make you best guess at the store or try it there.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
