Comment:
hi, My sony dvd 101e has flashed up with 'rec. disable' message. I understand this to be malfunction with the disk and therefore means no more recording can take place. My question is, is there anyway of salvaging the footage already recorded onto the disk before this occurred?

Have you tried inserting the disc into your DVD-rom drive? Your PC might be able to see the data.
As for the "malfunction" of the disc, are you sure it isn't just full? We are, after all, talking about a DVD-R, not a DVD-RW. 30 minutes isn't a lot of footage, and a 30 min DVD-R would be filled quickly.
Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.
