Hi

I've just burned a host of images to DVD,on a laptop I have using Nero 6, but during the burn process something strange happened and I am unable to open view the pictures.

the file extention should read .JPG but now they all read .JPG. with an extra dot at the end of the file extention????? All the data seems to be there date, file size etc.

I've tried renaming but that doesn't work all that happens is I end up with a double extention i.e. .JPG.JPG

I'm currently trying various recovery software to see if I can reclaim the images, but if any one has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Corrupted JPGs are difficult if not impossible to fix.

but during the burn process something strange happened

This isn't helpful. You need to explain what happened.

In any event the best solution is to reburn the JPGs. Can you do that?

Take off the period at the end or even try a new name totally with a .jpg extension( I know you said renaming gives an extra.jpg to the pic) and try infanview, if it opens, then rename the file.
It sounds confusing but it's the only way I could explain it...sorry.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Hi guys

Thanks for the suggestions I'll give them a try, unfortunately I was copying from the compact flash card straight to the DVD, as I usually do, and for some reason once the burn finished it wiped them off the compact flash card, something it has never done before so unless I can recover them off the DVD I've lost them.

Nothing showed on the burn report to indicate and error but you never know. I've got access to a pc which has an older version of windows on it I think either 95 or 98 so hopefully I should be able to see the full file name without the ext being seperated which might allow me to rename the file and get rid of the extra period.

Will let you know how it goes

Thanks
