Comment: I'm having no luck with Nero making playible DVDs with mpegs. Does anyone know of any good software that will transcode mpeg to play on dvd players as a dvd r plus or minus format.

Reply: (edit)Nero works just fine for making DVD's, there is either something wrong with your setup or you are not doing it correctly. Can you give a little more info on what the problem is and the steps you take for creating the DVD?

Reply: (edit)Do the DVDs play ok on the PC and not on a standalone player. Or do they not play on either? Can the files on the DVD be seen by My Computer? Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Reply: (edit)After i have setup my menu files and ect. on my mpeg 1 or 2 in nerovision express 3 to make a dvd (i mean going through the process is easy, pertty much next, next, next). I insert blank dvd and click burn. Nero says it will take 3 hours or so. Thats seems very long for a 30 minute show. Somewhere i always get an error and nero doesn't finish my dvd. When I copy a dvd with dvd shrink and nero it only takes 30-45 minutes or so. I updated my Nero 6 ultimate editon oem to the latest updates and no still luck.

Reply: (edit)I've been reading both your posts and this sounds alot like a data transfer issue. Go into device manager and expand the catagory that says IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Double click on the primary IDE channel and click on the Advanced settings tab. Make sure the channel is running in DMA mode and not PIO mode. Do the same for the secondary IDE chaneel as well. Turn off the screensaver if you have one running and close out of any other programs that might be running.

Reply: (edit)I will check that when i get home. Maybe it is the hard drive configuration. I do have one of those new maxtor sata hard drives. It's 200 gb 8 mb cache. If i could choose over that's another story. Would i still have dma mode? I installed the raid driver for the hard drive when i reinstalled xp ,but i haven't configured anything mainly because it was working. Is there something i need to set maybe in the raid controllers so that nero will work. Raid is confusing to me.

Reply: (edit)Something also that puzzles me my hard drive doesn't show up in bios, but maybe since it is setup to search to boot it eventually finds the hard drive.
