The belkin 1394 cable is close to what I need. The small end is perfect for the DV however the large end is not a USB. It's a new video connection which my 2 yr old Dell D610 doesn't have. I have purchased several cables and I only ever get one end that fits. Is there such thing as an adapter for the cable that would connect to the USB, etc.....suggestions.

Is it firewire? You might need a firewire card.

The cable is correct. You need to add a firewire (i.e. 1394) port to your computer.
You *could* try a USB to Firewire cable ( http://www.usbfirewire.com/Parts/rr... ), but when dealing with video you do not want anything that could deteriorate the transfer. You can get a firewire card for about $20.
