Hello
My self Mr. Saikrishna from Goa(India) need your help. Last month I purcahsed sony camcorder DCR TRV 285E. When I tried to transfer my video to machine through the USB cable to PC(P-IV, win xp, 128MB RAM, 40 GB HD), the video quality was very poor.
Then one of my friend adviced me to go for firewire. I brought a firewire card and cable, when I tried to connect camcorder to PC, PC is not decting the camcorder. I tried in all the ways, but I could not get the solution.

In my PC it is decting the firewire card(working properly), I would like to know about any other driver or any setting in camcoder, so that my PC can detect the camcorder.

I hope you will help me in this regard. Awaiting for your quick response.

Thanking you.

Look on the settings menu for turn off USB stream. You should get more Ram for video work, 512 at least 1GB would be better.

Using a USB cable is not causing the poor quality. It could be that you have the camera set to a low quality setting or you are using a low quality setting for the recording software.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

You might also verify that the fireware interconnect cable is the correct type. Sony's iLINK is a 6 wire to 4 wire cable. A 6 wire to 6 wire cable won't work.
