Comment:

Since upgrading to Windows Media Player 10 this week, I have not been able to view video clips while online. WMP comes ups and freezes at "Connecting." I can save clips and view them fine. But who wants to save things you don't want. I think there must be a setting that has to be changed. Can anyone help? Thanks. Steve

Try IE Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and select all items in the Multimedia category except 'Show image download placeholders. Click Apply and Ok.

Also after the freeze, I cannot get into Media Player until after I reboot.

Wait I can close it with cntl-alt-del, but bottom line is it freezes when trying to play online video clips.

Funny thing is this WMP10 was thrust upon me in a Windows Update. All of a sudden my Version 9 was gone and 10 was installed. Happened two days ago.

Like I said, I can play previously stored video fine. I can save files and then they play fine. But I cannot preview online video like before.

Try dceselecting the IE settings and then reselect them.
Otherwise check the Network settings tab of WMP10.

You can always uninstall WMP10 and I think it will default to the previous player
