can't play captured video from phon

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I was wanting to say within computing.net to solve my problem..
I have a smt5600 smartphone and am able to capture video with it onto my mini sd card.. the problem I'm having is I can't seem to get the video to play on my computer.
it hooks up with mini usb and I can browse the memory card like it's a removable drive.. and can copy the pictures over and the video files but the video's won't play. says the video is a .mp4?
