canon mp190 scanner

Specs: Windows XP

I want to know how to scan a photo to "save" it, not to print it. Is there an easy way to do this? I don't have my manual.

You use the software (Canoscan or something similar?) that should have been installed when you got the MFP. If you don't have it you can download it from the Canon website (you should be able to download the manual as well :-) )

Download a copy of the manual. At Canon or other sites,

Thanks John... Now that I have someone to actually chat to...the scanner printer belongs to a friend of mine who lives a couple states away. Told them I would try to help... they don't know how to do anything regarding "fix it" things... or are limited.

So, I am not sure what they have or don't have wrong. They only "push a button" and it works... now they want to scan a photo to save, and say they don't have the option to save it.. it just prints. As I don't have their scanner/printer, I don't know how it actually works...

So, know any "simple steps" I could relay to them how to "scan and save" a photo? (I know, if they knew their soft ware it would be easier!)
Thanks

It sounds like they are either just using it as a photocopier, or if they are just using the printer part then you really can't do a lot else except point them in the direction of the manual. It's like trying to drive a car without knowing you have more than one pedal......

If it helps, the manual is available HERE - the US model should be the same or you just need to find the same page on the US site. Maybe if you download it you can talk them through the process.
