When I tried to view my new dvd on my laptop, I got a message that said the region codes do not match. My laptop region is FREE and the DVD is 1. How can I view the dvd?

Most commercially produced DVDs are always protected with region coding, Content Scramble System (CSS) and other artificial restrictions.Usually the DVD format is VOB.If your laptop player don't support DVD standard format,it will also can't read.

Usually I use DVD copy software which can remove copyright and CSS protection automatically. It also can copy all DVDs from DVD to computer or from DVD9 to DVD5, DVD5 to DVD9, DVD5 to DVD5 and DVD9 to DVD9 with original quality.

The reason is your DVD has protection. You should remove the protection via a DVD Copy tool. The tool i often use can remove the copyright, CSS and Region protection. Also it allows me to copy full movie, main movie or customize the movie. You may have a try.
