I just purchased a Canon Power Shot S2 IS Digital Camera. I transfered the pictures to my harddrive and saved them as Jpegs. They worked fine. I copied the files to a disc and opened them on 3 different computers and they will not open on any of them. I realize this seems vague but, any ideas what is going on?

"I realize this seems vague"

Maybe because it is vague?

"and opened them on 3 different computers and they will not open on any of them."

... not to mention confusing

What app are you using when you [attempt to] open the pics, and what, if any, error messages do you receive?

I meant that I tried to open the files I saved onto the disc on 3 seperate computers. I opened them using Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop, and it said that the files were not valid jpeg files, even though they open as jpeg files on the original computer which i saved them on.

Ok - well that's a bit more informative (just quit saying you "opened them" maybe)

Can you see them in "My computer", thumbnail view?

One suggestion would be to try IrfanView, as it may be more successful

"they open as jpeg files on the original computer which i saved them on."

Kind of sounds like they became corrupted when transferred, if the originals are ok

When you say, "I copied the files to a disc", do you mean CD or floppy (or other)? If you burned them to a CD, be sure to "finalize" or "close" the disc (not just the session). Some systems won't read a CD if it's not closed. Also, if you're using the "Drag and drop" function in Roxio, other systems will most likely not read the CD.

I can't see how that would be applicable - - if that was the case, then how could the files even be copied from the CD at all?

Quite a stretch (in the wrong direction)

At any rate, hopefully the originals on the 1st HDD are in good order, and other transfer methods can be tried

Now I'm confused!

You originally said that you copied from your HD to a "disc". You never mentioned that you ". . . copied from the CD".

Also, without "closing" or "finalizing" a CD, your system should still read it just fine. Thats how multi sessions are created.

Hope you get it figured out.
