"does not recognise" as in, it won't install it properly or simply nothing happends? Either way, try installing the software before plugging your iPod into your PC. Once that's done, open iTunes then plug in your iPod. See if something shows up on the left menu. If there's still nothing, leaver your iPod connected and go to System in Control Panel then under the General tab, click on Device Manager and see if there's an error or some kind of problem. Possibly with a "Storage device" If nothing like this shows..I have no clue. Let me know what happends.

I'm sorry, i didn't finish what I was saying.

If you do see "Storage device" in the Device Manager, you simply have to install your iPod nano. Double click on the Storage Device and update the drivers. Make sure your CD for the iPod is in your drive and have it scan for it. If nothing shows up and you did install the proper software, i'll see if I can find your a file to install your iPod.

Here's a thought; does it work on someone else's computer?

On your own computer, perhaps the USB plug and play isn't enabled. Look in your computer manual (if you can't find me, let me know if it's a name brand computer and i can find it for you) and look for the section on information on your BIOS. Look for USB (not exactly sure what it would say) It would be, Plug&Play devices or something like that. Once you find it in the manul, go yourself in the BIOS and see if it's enabled or disabled. If it's disabled, simply enable, save and restart. If it was enabled, then that eliminates that possible problem. Let me know.
