Cannot burn avi file to dvd

HELP! I have Windows Vista and I have tried the dvd maker, convertxtodvd and roxio to burn an avi file to a dvd to watch on a player. Nothing works! It's driving me crazy!

When you click on the "Burn" button it does nothing?
Please let us know what specific problem you are having so that we may possibly assist you in resolving it.
eg. You do this and that but then when you do this that happens which is different than what you would have expected.

Using convertxtodvd, the log says "burn successful". However, the disk has nothing on it. I checked the codecs on the avi file, I checked the settings on the convertor software. I really think it must be an issue with the burner. Each program I have tried appears to be working perfectly (on covertxtodvd I can see the video in the preview pane). The programs will start "encoding" and then "burning", eject the disk. I put the disk in the dvd player, nothing is on it. I put the disk in the computer and nothing is on it?

What you mean "nothing works"? DVD burner won't recognize the dvd disc? DVD burner program won't work or something else?
