camera not recognized

I have used my Olypus D390 camera with my Dell Inspiron 2650 for the past several years with no problem Today I only get beebs when I turn on the camera. I switched ports and usb cords to no avail. When I try manually it says device not detected. Help?

Sometimes software and or drivers get corrupted. Have you tried the uninstall reinstall method? Uninstall the camera software/hardware and than reinstall. Also try plugging the camera into a different USB port to see if the one you have been using may be corrupt.

It should still recognise it as some sort of USB drive, if not your particular camera model name.
Can you still see the images you've taken on the camera itself? Try connecting it to another pc (don't install the software, just see if the pc recognises it). Can the images on the card be read by using an external reader? (if you haven't got one then ask a friend or pop into your local supermarket or whever with digital processing facilities & just pop the card into their self-service machine).
