What do you think is the best software for making videos from still images? I mean not too expensive (even free if possible)...

I just bought Roxio Easy Media Creator 10. It won't install properly and, now that I've installed it, it won't open. Bah!!

My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 - is it too old and not powerful enough for the latest programs?

Help...

Thanks,

John.

I don't use Windows Movie Maker, but it's supposed to make video slide shows.

Your mx-420 is pretty old, but for making video slide shows I would think it should be ok.

How much memory do you have? A lack of enough memory might possibly cause the Roxio problem.

Hi there, aegis! :o)

Thanks for your input. Does this help?

My setup: PC (not MAC) / WinXP Pro / AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (1.83 GHz) / ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard / 1.50 GB RAM / 200 GB HD plus...

Swift 3D Version 5.00 is a powerful & modern program and works fine on my computer. Why not Roxio, I ask myself? It's strange...

John.

I think you have a powerful enough system with enough memory. Maybe Roxio tech support can help with the install problem.

I've tried in the Roxio Forums, aegis, but no-one's really come up with an answer. It seems that the Roxio's requirements for my graphics card are too high ... or should I say that my graphics card is not up to it!

See http://forums.support.roxio.com/ind...

Swift 3D Version 5.00, which I have installed, is a very modern program, and it works fine. But there we are...

Thanks,

John.

I have used windows movie maker which has proved quite successful but Microsoft has also produced a free bit of software called Photo Story 3. This is a very nice bit of software and allow you to simply produce a nice video. I did find that I missed the control over the sound track that I had using movie maker, but I found zooming in and out on each picture easier to setup in photo story than movie maker.

Unfortunately I don't use the Roxio product so I can't help

John, I see where someone at that link you posted says the MX-420 does not support DirectX 9. That's sure a problem. I think you need a new card.
