I have used Olympus since beginning with digital cameras 6 years ago. I have been very pleased until I purchased a D-595.
My 2100 Zoom has been superb for years but is only 2.0mp and you can't interchange lens.
What camera has all the features you want, like stablizer, and you are happy with?

A camera is like a car. You can see 30+ manufacturers ins the world with each of its customers saying he's happy with that brand and you cannot normally convince anyone to change their mind.
I like Canon. Sony is also good. If you are paying a lot of money for interchangeble lenses, then Nikon and Pentax are also good. Stay away from cr@ppy brands that you've never heard of.
In my opinion, Canon is good with still cameras and Sony with film cameras. I have had a Canon A40 (2 mpixel) and I was happy with that... after a couple of years, sold that to a friend and bought myself a Canon S1-IS (3.2 mpixel but with 10x optical zoom and image stablization), filming 640x480 without limits, zoom in/out while filming... although it only films with MJPEG codec, so films are rather large. A friend bought a Casio. I don't like the image quality much, but with 8x zoom its small and very VERY light. Also, it films with Mpeg4 codec, so films are very small in size and high in quality.
What you need to keep in mind when you want to buy a camera, as wella s bang per buck (value vs features) is a few things:
1. Does it show real colours when you are using it indoors, without flash ?
2. Does it show real colours indoors with flash ? some bad cameras show faces with a brown tint WITH flash, or even washed out colours....
3. Take a pic of a purple thing (flower ?). Does it look more blue than purple ? most cameras have a problem with purple. I tried a SONY and it was perfect purple. Both my Canons have problems with purple.
4. Does filming matter to you ? how about size ? how about battery type ? All sony cameras (in my knowledge) have their own battery, this means light batteries but it also means you're not able to buy alkaline batteries when you run out of juice and you really want to continue taking pictures...
5. Zoom vs resolution ... While I could go out and buy A95 (5 mpixel) for less than what I paid for my S1 IS, I proved myself right when I took many pictures of animals with 8 or 10x zoom. You really don't need a 5 mpixel if you have a 10x zoom, i think.
www.dcresource.com is my favourite site and it tells you all about the latest digital cameras.
computing.net rocks

Excellent advice and just what I was looking for. Thank you very much!

I,m not an expert but Iv,e worked up to my fith digital camera and if the features cover what you want I suggest the Canon S2 is worth a look. Iv,e had Olympus(3) and Samsung and the S2 is best by far.
