Either DivX (5 or 6) or the XViD codecs are needed for most of today's AVI files

We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true

Google - it's free - they're video codecs

I'm afraid I don't understand the rest of your question - perhaps if you used complete English words, what you're trying to say would be clearer.

Once a codec is installed, it will be used by whatever media player you use (if needed)

Needalilhelp, a little advice:

You should spend a little more time composing your posts. They are difficult to read. Try and use periods and commas and it doesn't take much more effort to type 'are' instead of 'r' or 'you' instead of 'u'.

Since you need help, it's to your advantage to make it as easy as you can on the potential help giver.

A shrewd observer remarked many years ago that America was becoming a third world country.

Sadly, it is no longer becomming.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

It's a punctuation thing:

No, sadly, we're there, dude!

It's not just the US, although there's likely a greater range of disparity due to the socioeconomic climate there than, say, neighbouring Canada

Anyhoo - that player may be all well and good - he'd mentioned he had one "AVI player" already - most likely the DivX Player, which comes with the (DivX) codecs

Won't be much help if the AVI happens to be encoded with XviD - I play a great deal of video on my machine, every so often it's time to "find the new codec" - XviD, and the latest Quicktime & Real were the last bunch I 'had to' install (just the codecs, not the intrusive software - I use 'The Alternative' instead)

I'm not sure what the OP was on about wrt Real Player - only one (shakey) reason to have that - for 'Real Media'
