Hi,
Can anyone help me, I am unable to view avi files on my machine. Previously I was able to do this, however, in the past 2 weeks I am unable to view them, however I do get the sound. This does not occur for all avi files.

Do a google search for Gspot, then use it to see which codec the avi file uses, and if it's installed on your machine.
Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

Classic 'missing codec' symptom - - assuming these are different videos then the ones you were previously able to view - - odds are you just require the XviD codec (AVIs are pretty much either DivX or XviD)

Cheers, downloaded Gspot and installed the missing code. All works fine now.
Thanks again.

That's good - - I've got nothing against Gspot (a fine application) - but if you only needed Xvid, kind of seemed like an unnecessary step
