I cannot play an avi file on my DVD player. I have played avi files on my DVD player before but this time it says "unsupport format". This avi file doesn't even play on DivX player.. It can be played using VLC but I haven't come across an avi file which can't be played on DivX. Even on VLC it skips.

When I try to convert it using Winavi, it says,
"Can't decode this file! Maybe the file is broken or the relative decoder is not installed!"

Could someone please tell me how i can fix this file?

I think DVD players only support DIVX and XVID AVI files. It appears that the file might be some other AVI format.
In my opinion WinAVI is not a very good converter. I've had good luck with the AVS converter.

You can use Aimersoft DVD Creator, it can convert all popular video formats (AVI, MP4, MPG, MPEG, 3GP, WMV, ASF, RM, RMVB, DAT, MOV, FLV, etc) to DVD and burn DVD movie played on portable and home DVD players, that's very good for me, you can free download it from its official site:

Well, there are some ways to play your AVI on DVD Player. (1) This is a free way. Use Any Video Converter Free version to convert the AVI file to DVD Video NTSC/PAL movie. You can download this converter from http://www.any-video-converter.com. Then use another free program named DVDstyler to burn the files to a DVD disc. You can download DVDStyler from http://www.dvdstyler.de. (2) Use DVD Photo Slideshow, it's shareware. You can burn your AVI files directly to a DVD. It's fast and easy.

Everything is to be paid for..

It seems that Movie DVD Maker will be your best choice. It can add many kinds of video formats, and create DVD menu if you add many clips and want to control them.

Check this software here:

Standard DVD players read the .Vob format, the files you have now are in AVI format..

I would recommend you download ConvertXtoDVD. Ive been using it for a year now, never had a problem!

It will convert your video files to the dvd format readable by all standard dvd players, then burn automatically to DVD!

it is easy to use, fast and it works perfect for me.. give it a try, you'll love it

1. Download ConvertXtoDVD here:
http://www.burner-software.com/AVI-...

It can convert any video file.. like wmv, mpeg, asf, mp4, avi to dvd

2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle

3. Insert blank DVD

4. Click "Convert"

5. Enjoy watching those video files on your home DVD player! =)

ConvertXtoDVD has a lot of extra nice features too,
for example you can make your own ANIMATED DVD menu or auto-generate it, add subtitles, auto-burn to dvd or save your conversion.
