Hello,

I am experiencing some problems regarding audio on my TV Tuner. Basically, the audio begins crackling - saturation, I believe - if I set the recording volume for the tuner's audio device above around 10%. Which makes for rather quiet sound.

My TV Tuner card is an ASUS My Cinema P7131.

I can turn up the sound card's output volume without increasing the problem, as it occurs with the TV Tuner sound.

This mostly occurs on one channel and when I attempt to play my video game consoles through it (Nintedo Gamecube and Sony Playstation 2) - however, I usually only watch one or two channels on it generally, and even then I rarely do watch television at all.

I'm somewhat annoyed at having to change the volume to be able to even hear anything, and it's especially annoying when one of my apps suddenly makes a sound while watching television or playing a game. Anyone have any ideas how to remedy this? Or is the problem the TV Tuner itself?

I had a similar problem with my Hauppage WIN TV USB2. The volume coming out of the win tv was much too high. What I ended up doing is inserting a manual volume control between the win tv and the computer. But then this was pretty easy seeing as it was USB and the audio lines were easy to identify, cut, and splice.

It sounds however, asif your problem is much the same.... the volume coming out of the tv tuner card is much too loud as goes into the sound card.

I don't know your card very well, but I would have a careful look in the registry for some sort of "software" volume control that you can reset at a lower level. Most cards do have some kind of default volume setting somewhere in the registry.

Hmm. I suppose something of the sort is possible.

Where might I find that in the registry? Evidently not in the root of the Software hive; I see nothing pertaining to it there ... =\
