adobe tries to open jpg files why?

Specs: Windows XP
i recently updated my adobe program. now everytime i try and open a jpg file adobe tries to open it. it gives me an error message saying the file type is not supported. i can easily right click on file and open with microsoft picture manager. but the extra step is bugging me and it did not use to do that. Any ideas?

Which Adobe program are you referring to? Adobe make a number of programs, including Acrobat, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and more.

Open "My Computer" and click on "Tools". Select "Folder Options", and click on the "File Types" tab. Scroll down to "JPG" and the "Change" button below will become active. Click on this and select the program you wish to associate with .JPG files.
