Hi I have taken some photos on my digital camer, and they have been stored on an sd card. i put them in my card reader and loaded them onto my PC, so far so good. but they have been stored as " Raw" PSD files, which I can't open in any other thing other than Adobe Photoshop 7, but when I try to open them a box comes up asking for File size, channels and loads more, I have had a stab at it but if they do open the pictures are all weird, black and white and distorted. can anyone help?

Don't know your camera but there should be a setting on it that allows a RAW or JPEG format.

Set it for JPEG (JPG). This is the standard for pictures these days.

You should be able to just 'open' the file once it has been opened by photoshops RAW feature.
No need to change any settings(file size, channels etc) just ok/open it.

Also like blackbill says but RAW is the best formatt to take pictures in,if you have the storage space in camera.

Did this help?

Hi Indigian, and Blackbill, thanks for the replies. No Indigian unfortunately this hasn't helped, when I open the file or Adobe 7 and try to open the file, the Raw Options box automatically appears and asks for Dimensions, Channels( count and depth ) whever the file is "Interleaved" is it 8 or 16 bit and the header size, none of which means anything to me. Can you Help ?

Does your camera come with a USB cable and software? There are a few cameras that use a proprietary format. Downloading through the camera with the software allows saving in a standard format like jpg.

Can you take a screen shot of the options?

I know you should choose 8bit but I'm using CS2 now and cannot remember photoshop7 that well.

Also which camera is it?
