Subject: .aa to .mp3 - please help!OS: Windows 2000CPU/Ram: K6-2 / 64mbModel/Manufacturer: Custom Build |
Comment: Hi, I've tried about 10 different methods of converting .aa (audible audio book) to .mp3 and have only had success with burning the audio book to cd and then ripping the audi book to .mp3 which takes way to long with a 21hour audio book and cds only hold 80mins! Can someone please give me a quick and simple guide to convert my audiobook to .mp3 so i can listen to it on my ipod while on the train? Thanks alot! Regards, Mortagen

Reply: (edit)"Audible audio files are compatible with over 230 models of audio players, PDAs, mobile phones and streaming media devices." The .aa format is a propriatry format that is a protected format. Your device is not compatible to this format? I believe IPod is one of those devices. (Maybe not since...) "In 2003, Audible made an exclusive deal with Apple to provide their catalog of books on the iTunes Music Store. Books purchased on iTunes have a .m4b extension (a variation on MP4), and contain AAC audio protected by Apple's FairPlay Digital Rights Management. Audible's use of digital rights management on its own .aa format has earned it criticism[3]." Perhaps you simply need to download them from the iTunes store to get them in .aac format? Bryan
