I would like 2 monitors on my desk where I can take all my color pallates and stuff and put them on the left monitor while I work on the image on the right monitor. is there a way to do this where the mouse just scrolls across both monitors and such?

The easiest way it to download the software for your graphics card (i.e. ATI's Control Center, or nVIDIA's ForceWare) and look through it.
I use an ATI with two monitors, and in the Control Center there is a wizard under the 'Displays Manager' tab. But I'm not sure what it is under nVIDIA's software.
Hope this helps.

I use the NVIDIA forceware to run 2 19" Viewsonics for exactly what you want to do.
With an NVIDIA card (probably ATI too), Install drivers, right click on desktop, click on monitor 2, click "enable", select "dual view" instead of clone (clone= 2 identical desktops instead of one big), and you're good to go!
