I'm very proficient working with computers, but digital TV is way out of my sphere of knowledge.

I live in an apartment complex that has TV service included. I have a LCD TV, which when connected to the coax cable gives me a plethora of "dash" channels to watch. For example, I can tune to channel 15-0 which is local news, 15-1 is the same news in HD, and 15-2 is a 24/7 weather info station.

I have this TV tuner connected to my computer: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...

Using Vista's Media Center, I can only tune to channel 15 (local news, non-HD). I can't get to any of the "-1", "-2" broadcasts. Is this a limitation of Vista Media Center, or of the TV tuner? IF it is the TV tuner, and I replace it, what specifications do I need to look for to know it will pick up all the channels?

I suspect that the HD channels are encoded and you need a special tuner with a decoder.

Looks like the issue is that Media Center doesn't support Clear QAM channels. After a lot of work, I got the "Media Center TV Pack" installed, and now I can tune to the Clear QAM digital channels.

The issue now is that I can't seem to set up Media Center for both QAM and analog cable channels. It will only let me configure one source or the other...

Its all a bit over my head but I downloaded some software via the internet that allowed me to watch 9000 tv channels on my pc. IT cost about $30 but it is amazing. I have now cancelled my expensive sky cause I dont need it anymore and saved a packet.
