Viewing burned pictures on DVD

I have a Minolta DiMage Z1 digital camera, a Sony DVP-NS325 DVD player, and a Dell Dimension 4600 computer. I use Paint Shop Photo Album 4 to transfer my digital pictures from my camera to a Sony DVD+RW disk. I can view my pictures on my computer from this disk, but I cannot get the disk to work in the DVD player. The DVD player says it is compatible with all forms of DVD (+/- R,& RW). The pictures are in a JPEG format on the DVD. My DVD player just says across the front of the player "Cannot Play". Is there something I can do to get these pictures to show on the DVD player? Also, I am looking at buying a Sony DCR-DVD403 DVD camcorder. I don't want to run into a similar situation here where I won't be able to view the videos I take. Please let me know if there is anything that can be done.

I cannot find any reference to JPEG's in the manual. It does say it cannot play: CD-ROMs (including Photo CD's), DVD-RW's in VR mode, DVD-ROMs, DVD Audio discs, DVD's with a different region code, A disc recorded in a color system other than NTSC. I don't believe any of these pertain to me, but I don't fully understand some of the technical terms such as NTSC.

Unless specified a DVD player will not read computer format DVD. The easiest way to show still pictures on a DVD player is to create a MPEG2 slideshow. You will have similar problems saving video to DVD, first save and convert to MPEG2 then burn to DVD.

I've been trying to find out how to convert from JPEG to MPEG and so far have not been able to determine how. Should my computer be able to do this, or do I need special software?

Your DVD burning software may have it, or other software that came with the burner, or try Google. There are some free or trial software available.

I have found software on my computer that is used for making pictures into a slide show, however, it looks like my version does only movies and not slideshows at this time. I'll have to upgrade in order to work with my still pictures. Thanks for all your help.
