Unable to play vidoes in LG DVD from USB

Specs: Windows XP

I have LG dvd player with Divx playing option and USB 2.0.
but when i plug USB , files are not detecting ( .avi,mp4).
Please help me how to play videos from USB.

Go to the LG site, find out what codecs it supports.
Then using something like gspot see what codecs your avi files have, then convert if necessary.
