All dvd movies are split in Audio and Video folders. Do you have the proper codec to view dvd movies on your computer. Also you could try download VLC player as it will play anything and it's free.

I tried VLC and it won't play a regular rented movie DVD. I can
play DVDs burned on a mac. This is an acer laptop that has
vista business on it. The movie is VERY pixelated and the
sound seems to skip around. Almost like it's not sampling fast
enough, but I really don't know what I'm doing. Frustrating! Just
thought I'd see if there was a way to fix this w/o buying software.
Originally this had vista home premium on it, but was changed
