I used to have a small program that would convert MP3s into smaller MP3 or wave files but it as been a couple of years and I can't remember the name. It would reduce the size by about 10x. If anyone knows of this program or any program that does this your input would be greatly appreciated.
I believe .wma is smaller than .mp3 but, of course, the MP3 player must be able to play this format as it is no longer in .mp3 format.
To reduce an .mp3 file simply choose a lower bit rate setting when converting it to .mp3 in the first place. Personally I like 160kbps but you can save them at 56kbps to reduce their size considerably. Normal setting is 128kbps.
Otherwise wait for another individual to reply to your post.
Thanks for the replies. I found a program called MP3 Resizer that changes the bitrate. It's not the same program that I had but it works well enough. My wife is using it to make ringtones for her and my daughter's cell phones. The other program would actually make very small wave files but I have so far not been able to find it.
