Samsung BD 5900 bluray player stopped playing Home Videos.

Specs: Windows 7, Intel i5 @ 3Ghz/8gigs RAM
I have a Samsung BD 5900 bluray player (it regularly connects to the internet for updates). Apparently the most recent update screwed it up. Up until the most recent update, it would play home videos. Recently I recorded my granddaughter's wedding, burned it to DVD, but it refuses to play. The disk is working perfectly, on my PC but as of the most recent update it refuses to play through the DVD player. RESET only reinstalls the last update again, per Samsung.

Any Ideas how I can get it to play my home vids again?

Try converting the DVD to a VCD. That's just a regular CD disc. May need to download Nero or Cyberlink to create the disc.

I don't need to be right, but I am never wrong.

If you've isolated the problem to an update you may want to contact samsung (if such a thing is possible) and let them know. They're probably unaware their most recent update has a bug.

I would stay away from the suggestion of converting it to a VCD. that will lower the resolution down to 352x240 giving you a horrible picture.

It sounds like you just copied a video file to a DVD. You should really be authoring the DVD as a video DVD using something like Nero Burning ROM or Roxio and use the option to create a video DVD. This way it will be compatible in all DVD players.

Thanks guys, let me make a few duplicates of the file, then I can try a different solution on each copy.

PS: I did notify Samsung about it a month ago, no response yet!\!?!
