Specs: Windows 7
image of home setup

I have home network setup as above. currently I have wired Ethernet devices ( not using wifi due to rooms, walls etc).
I am looking for Network attached storage device or network media solution able to
1)store all file music, videos, photos other documents
2)stream music, video, photos to Samsung TV without having my desktop PC powered ON.
3)also is it possible BD player to read NAS media files and stream to Samsung TV. if anybody have tried it?

I have used samsung's PC share server software on my desktop running to stream media files to samsung TV, but its really bad, unreliable and needs desktop powered on.

Help me with your ideas, solution and experience.

The latest AVM routers do have MediaServer included.
So you can connect a USB hard drive to the router and configure the Fritzbox, to act as a MediaServer.
The MediaServer uses DLNA, which is also supported by the Samsung TV.

You also can buy a NAS drive from QNAP or Synology or whatever.

For me, Synology NAS works great.
No need to run PC, when playing videos, music or photos.

Depending on the BD player you have, you might be able to connect it to your network and configure the DLNA server, you're using, so that the BD player will play music, videos and photos, stored on your NAS.
