hi!
i am completely clueless about how in ceiling speakers work but when i moved to this house there were some installed in one of my rooms, i just know they are there but would like to connect them to my computer and play my music :D
what equipment would i need to make this possible?

You need to find the amplifier that feeds audio to the speakers. It should have an input jack on it. Connect a cable from this input jack to the output of your computer. A place like RadioShack will have all the cables/adapters you might need to do this.

no i don't have an amp just the speakers in the ceiling.... i went up to check it out and there two wires connected to the speakers but they are not hooked up anywhere > here is a picture http://mypimo.com/uploads/images/20...
it's kind of dark but it kind of illustrates what i am talking about

Are you sure that you want to go to all that trouble to hook up a couple of speakers that probably aren't that good?

Those speakers are for a PA system. They are wired for a constant voltage system (note the transformer). To use an ordinary amplifier you will have to remove the transformer and rewire the speakers. If you are going to the trouble it is best to replace the speakers and wiring. The speakers are lo-fi usually for voice only. They are probably wired for mono. I would replace them with normal enclosures for better sound. Even computer speakers will give good sound.
