I purchased a new 40" LCD HDTV. Currently the Cable company & Dish don't offer too many channels in HD and if you want them you must purchase a seperate package.
Until both technologies have upgraded to full digital how do I get the best picture I can get out of a Standard Definition signal?
The picture looks pretty good on my old 27" CRT TV but kind of fuzzy on my 40".
I've tried the old 75 Ohm coax input and Composite input.

SD broadcasts on a HD lcd tv are pretty disappointing and there is little you can do. It looks a LITTLE better on a plazma but still not as good as a normal crt. The only thing you can do is play with the color/tint/stauration and adjust to the best you can.
I have both a 20" lcd and a 52" plazma... my old crt looks better than both of them on the sd broadcasts, and the lcd is the worst of all three.
"Upconvert" DVD players play standard DVD's and are supposed to enhance standard DVD's to near HD quality. Most of the user reviews of various Upconvert DVD players agree that it is higher quality than playing from a standard DVD player. Upconvert DVD players start at about 120 USD. Use a HDMI cable for best results. These start at about 40 USD.
Yep, i've been looking more here lately and Upconvert looks like the way to go for all us average guys that don't have thousands of dollars to spend on a dvd player.
Only if they had a upconvert for the dish or cable lol. I hope they speed up progress on HD for cable and sat companies.
