My HD TV does not have a HDMI outlet, only DVI. The new blu ray players do not have a DVI connector, only HDMI. They have HDMI to DVI cables. The question is about quality of picture. Does HDMI to HDMI give you a better picture (better video quality) better resolution than say what I am trying to do (HDMI player to DVI TV)?

Both DVI and HDMI are both digital video interfaces, so there will be no degradation of the video signal. The only thing is that DVI doesn't carry audio signals. You'll still need to wire for audio between the BluRay player and the TV or surround sound system.

Thanks Bill I short follow up if I might. My current set up is a 1080i TV attached to dvd player with component cables. When I get my blu ray player, would you suggest I use the component cables I already have, or get that HDMI to DVI cable and use that instead? Would the component cable set up give me as sharp a picture as the DVI set up? I have been getting conflicting answers from different stores, this is why I am asking, thanks again for your help.
