my samsung lcd tv is blank after connecting it with my Dell laptop inspiron 1720 using a VGA cable,what could be wrong?

You must likely have to hit a combination of keys on your keyboard to show. Usually it's the function key(FN) and another key that's usually one of the F1 to F12 keys.
