I am a newbie, hoping for some help. I am trying to hook up my DSL modem. Went through the provided set up wizard, but got an error message that says "No answer received from the remote server." My computer is 25' from my phone jack, so I have a standard Radio Shack phone line running into a surge protector (1998 vintage), with the supplied DSL cable running out to the DSL port on the modem. Is this connection preventing my DSL from working?

Thank you,
dcpete

Hi dcpete,

With all due respect, your post have nothing to do with Digital Home. You would get qualified help if you repost it in CN's Network Forum.

Network forum would be best....but...just as a quick answer...call the tech support folks with your ISP first (is it your phone company?).

Your problem could be related to a number of different things...DSL is a bit more tricky to set up...check with them first....they are obligated to get you up and running quickly (and usually do for new accounts).

Your prolly just missed a step somewhere.
