i have brought a xps 15 laptop. it is having 3 audio outputs which includes two headhone, one s/p dif and one microphone socket. on the manual it is given that i can use a 5.1 speaker system with this laptop. when i connect the speaker leads(3) to the 3 sockets and perform audio test on speaker set up mode on realtek audio (dell) it gives sound through all speakers. when i play a song sound comes from two speakers and the subwoofer. i dont get sound from centre speaker and two of other speakers . please help
the book says it can be connected to 5.1 speaker systems and moreover when i perform the audio test in realtek HD audio manager it gives sound through all speakers but when i play a song i get music from only two speakers
I had the same problem in windows 7 64bit with my logitech z-5300 speakerset. I downloaded all the proper sounddrivers for my motherboard and still had stereo sound. In some cases you have to check the switch in the back of your subwoofer. Mine was set to the 5.1 option and I got stereo sound. When i changed it to 2.1 I got sound coming from all the boxes!!! I was happy and pissed off at the same time, realy a strange feeling :p
