Solved computer won't turn on

Dell Optiplex gx740 refurbished desktop...

Specs: Windows XP, 2cpu/560
the pc was fine last night, now it will not turn on it is a dell desktop. i do not know if it is the power supply or motherboard. how do I tell which it is and what i need to fix it. it's like there is no electricity to it but have checked everthing i can think of please help

remove all power for several minutes. try again. The power supply has a protect circuit that gets tripped by outages and some storms.

well it was the power supply got another one puter came on connected to the internet had to unplug to put it back together plugged it back in now it wo't boot (?) omg my brain will be fried before i get this right

Yeah, but you had it working... Hurray!!!!!!

Probably a power connector not plugged in...that one that goes next to the CPU.

thank you for the hurray and yes all i had to do was get a good night sleep and unplug and plug everything back in. now the cd player or d drive is not working no biggie will but another put puter works great. thankyou for all the help and god bless google that is how i found tom's guide
