Cheap audio system

March 1, 2011 at 21:44:48
Specs: Windows 7 Pro, NA
I have a nice LCD TV, but the built in speakers have recently started to vibrate whenever the volume is turned up. It has analog RCA output jacks for audio, so what I would like to do is get a cheap pair of powered speakers to connect to it. At first I was looking at ~$40 2.1 computer speaker sets, and found several I thought would work. However, I need a set that has infrared volume control so that I can program my remote to control them.

Any suggestions?

As said above the audio coming out will be controlled through your normal TV volume up and down.

Personally I would not wast my time with powered speakers and hook you audio out into your stereo system which will come with an IR remote. What is it that you play your CDs on?

The audio output from the TV is line level and is not controlled by the volume control. I play all my music from my WDTV Live, which plays it's audio through the TV.

So I do need powered speakers, and I do need ones with an IR volume control. Any ideas?

Check in the audio setup section on your tv. Some tv's have the option to set the line level as fixed or variable with the remote.
