I just want to know what software is the best for converting and burning movies that I downloaded off the net (avi, mpeg, divx, etc.) onto dvd to play on my home dvd player. Thank you for your help.

Best, meaning what?

They are all good for what you asked.

Ok, let me specify. I am looking for the most user friendly for a noob at this. Fast is good, but doesn't have to be the cheapest.

Ok,
If just converting and burning with the easy factor consideration then WinXP SP2 comes with Windows Movie Maker and it can do both while being very user friendly.

If you want to edit then Pinnacle Studio is a good one. However, to edit with any application they all have a learning curve to them. But editing really makes a big difference when watching them later. It makes a boring home video enjoyable to watch just by adding music to it.

Perhaps someone else will suggest another.

Actually My DVD Burner came bundled with showbiz 2 and it works great and is real user friendly, but you are quite limited on transitions and titling abilities.

I also have Pinnacle which I paid alot for. Problem with Pinnacle, after you spend almost $300 on their software, they come up with a new up-dated version for another $100 and then they stop giving tech support (email and phone)on the older version, which pretty well makes it obsolete. Pinnacle has turned into a real money monger and a rip-off, sorry, I wouldn't recommend it.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Burn avi, mpeg, mp4, divx, xvid or any other video file format to dvd.

Download here:

Take a look... I find it very easy to burn avi to dvd..

It works by first converting to the right format your DVD player can read, then auto burning to DVD.
