Comment:

My aunt just brought a new LCD TV and the display has a black line/white shadow though running vertically though the center of the TV. The black line has a distinctive pattern to it, and flashes on and off, it is never a solid black line but comes very close, though it seems the longer the TV remains on the more prudent the black line becomes. This line was in the TV since they hooked it up but was not present on their old TV. The white shadow box is far less frequent, the shadow box occurs in the same place the black line does, it looks like in power point where you make a white box then change the transparency, to where you can still see the image and the shadowed box.
We have tried changing the coaxial cable and it seemed to fix the problem for about 10 minutes or so but then it slowly came back and was just as bad as it was before. It looks like interface between cables, but the line runs vertically not horizontally.
Any ideas you may have will be much appreciated for I don’t know the next trouble shooting step. Thanks

Sounds to me like a defective LCD screen. Have you tried another LCD device on your signal source? How about trying your aunt's LCD on a different source as well? If it was purchased recently I would look into an exchange or return.

Oh, well pardon me for not finding the forum soon enough to solve YOUR problem on YOUR schedule. Considering I was the ONLY one who bothered to answer at all, your flippant reply was unnecessary. I'll be sure to not bother answering any questions you have in the future.

I meant no offense by it. I was thankful for your posting. I was glad someone posted even if it was a month late, I appericate it. I am also sure others will be thankful who have a similar issue.

Anyways back to the issue at hand. Not really a solution, but after a few attempts to making repairs to the TV, the issue remained. Best Buy has now allowed them to return thier TV in replace for a new one. I am unsure of the detials, but they did say they will never buy another Sharp product because of the poor customer service.
