Is Nero Ultra 6.6 a good video editing software? How does it compare to Video Wave and Pinnacle packages?

Thanks in advance.

this doesn't directly answer your question, but it may help some:

I recently made a video with a couple of my friends in college. Our movie's plot sucked, but technicly we did very well (even won a contest!)

we shuddered when we contemplated using windows movie maker. it sucks. However, we did have access to adobe after effects. This is supposed to be one of the best editing programs out there. However, I've been told that the vast majority of video editing is done on mac computers using final cut pro.

I'm not sure why I told you this because it almost completely avoids your question, but it's 11:46pm here and I'm tired.

I've only dabbeled in video editing. Regardless of how simple the a given software package may claim on the box/ad, it's not.

It very time comsuming. There are simply so many elements. However, if you've got a creative bug, it can be really fun, once you've gotten past the learning curve.

I also agree with chalks. The pro's I've known who do this for pay either used (or wish they could afford) Final Cut Pro and a high-end Mac.

However, if you're just wanting to edit some family vids with a few transitions and narration....Windows MovieMaker works okay (for really basic stuff), but your playback options will be limited.
