Comment:
I have a laptop with ati 9700 mobility and tv-out works fine (svideo). So a friend of mine asked to fix his tv-out ( he has ati 9000 mobility), i tried everything latest driver, svideo-cable, svideo to composite and then to scart, updating to the latest desktop catalyst driver with patje's patch tool for ati-drivers. No luck so i continued by looking in the bios for settings that weren't right. Didn't find any. Then i found this tool to enable the tv-out in the bios by flashing it. To be honest i f---ed up there and had to reïnstall windows but isn't there another way cause he doesn't have a floppy so it's kinda hard flashing with usb-stick and bootcd. Please help I want to fix this and the warrenty is long gone. What could i possibly do now?
You have done a great job at telling the world everything EXCEPT what exactly is wrong. What is it doing... not doing...is it dead.... waht???
Furthermore I have no idea what you are talking about "this tool to enable the tv-out in the bios by flashing it."?????
If the BIOS has anything to do with the tv out on an ati card that isn't even loaded until xp begins its boot.... THEN ITS A NEW ONE ON ME.... and i've been into computers for... well let's just say that 32kbytes of memory was BIG back then.
My advice is NOT TO TOUCH THE BIOS.
By the way BIOS stands for: BASIC input output....
Ok so i was wrong with the bios but i kinda felt that one coming. i'm a long time computer user ( no programmer or whatever ) my first games were on TV with C64. After trying 3 different drivers enabling them disabling. All with good results for the rest. Secondary lcd display works for example. But how could i diagnose if the output is broken??? I dunno that. Thanx for your help
the problem is kinda simple i connect the tv in a good way ( works on all other computers i tried also with ati cards ) and still in display props - advanced - display. The TV never gets connected ( one good thing is it is allready in the list there ) My attempt with bios tool was copiing the bios to harddisk and modifying that file with this tool but maybe that is a lilltle far fetched.
