|I agree with LMiller. Nearly all of these advertised work-at-home jobs are simple mundane jobs, most of which can be done by a a machine. So why employ somebody else to do it unless you just want some cheap labour or its a scam. If you are asked for cash up front then it is certainly a scam. Employers pay you, you don't pay them.|
The only real chance of getting a proper work-at-home job is from a legitimate employer where you go through the normal recruiting process to see if you have the skills and knowledge that the employer can use.
